The Youth Leadership Forum will offer youth from across Canada the opportunity to lead and be part of an intensive week-long experience exploring issues of diversity and inclusion to be held in the Greater Toronto Area from June 29 – July 6th 2019. The week-long leadership forum will offer youth mentorship and hands-on volunteer experiences, along with the opportunity to work together, guided by creative industry professionals, to present ideas and solutions for personal action to younger elementary school aged children in a half-day Youth Forum that they design and produce.
Throughout the week’s activities they will prepare for the Forum day itself where they will work collaboratively to create, plan, and produce a half-day youth forum for a live audience. This audience represents the third tier of youth engagement – younger youth from local schools and the wider community who will be the primary audience and the participants in the half-day forum.
Selected participants and/or their sponsoring school or youth organization will be required to pay a $300 registration fee. The program will cover all travel costs to and from their home community anywhere within Canada, plus all meals, accommodation, and programming expenses throughout the week. Participants will only need money for personal incidentals and souvenirs
Youth will be housed at the YMCA Cedar Glen Campus just north of Toronto and supervised by a trained team of 10 youth leaders as well as Experiences Canada staff. Daily events and activities will be organized throughout the Greater Toronto area.
