Shape your Path

Shape your Path Image

“Shape your Path” will be aimed at helping youth who are still deciding what to do after high school. This forum will match their personal aptitudes and interests with different career options and begin mapping their plan for their next steps.

Through 4 webinars, they will learn to identify their skills, volunteering, and mentorship opportunities in their chosen field of interest, as well as begin researching and preparing for post-secondary programs to support them.

Youth participants will also have exclusive access to facilitated workshops with youth leaders and receive additional materials to help them shape their own unique path.

Webinars:

Feb 19: CNGAP – Gap Years: What to do when you want/need a break from being a student.

Gap Years are perfect for those who are feeling burnt out, unsure of what they want to study, want to get some real life experience (and earn some cash) or just need a recharge before jumping back into school or the next phase of “adulthood.”  In this workshop we will explore the pros and cons of taking a gap year, tips for how to make this time purposeful instead of “wasting” it, what it means for future university or college, and how to talk to your parents about this beneficial pathway.

Feb 21: She’s Empowering Today: Exploring the Trades

Shannon shares her life journey and different career paths which includes a college diploma, pre-apprenticeship, and trades school to help educate youth on the available pathways. Shannon beliefs that education is power, and by providing youth with more options, we are empowering them to be able to make a better life long decision.

Feb 26: Worksapien – Resume and Career Coaching

The process of finding a new job is both an art and a science and this workshop is designed to help develop the skills you need in today’s labour market. It will offer you tools to map out the path from identifying your passion to landing a new position.  We will explore the ideas of personal branding and how best to present ourselves to the working world.

Feb 27: Art, Portfolio Development, How to Work Professionally as an Artist

Creatives are innovators by nature; carve out a path that works for YOU.

Feeling lost or not knowing how to move forward is ok!  Admit where you are at and go from there…working with a counsellor, mentor or coach can help

Thank you Gift:

Youth will receive a certificate, gift package and $50 gift card upon completion of the forum to recognize their knowledge and skills developed through this highly engaging series of presentations, group activities, and personal challenges.
